2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430; Specs, Engine Performance, Price & Release
2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430 – Lotus Dope once again its turbulent demands, offering it the 436 HP of its great sister Evora. The English is thus still closer to the large GT in terms of performance.
Lotus has been showing a trend of hyperactivity increasingly marked in recent times. In the absence of a real new car, the Hethel brand chained the evolutions on its models Elise, Exige and Evora, optimizing them by small touches and increasing each time their exclusivity. And this trend still seems to be intensifying in recent times. The effect of the redemption by Geely?
Still it is that, just one year after the move to 380 CH (Sport 380) and six months after the lite version of the Cup 380, the Exige is already entitled to a new cure of jouvance. This time there is no longer any question of a small increase of a few horses, since the small English benefits directly from the same engine evolution as the Evora on the recent GT430.
Thus, the compressed 3.5 V6 develops 436 hp and 440 Nm, but has only 1 056 kg (dry weight) to push, since the Cup 430 has the same drastic relief as the Cup 380. This includes the aerodynamic kit, composed of various carbon parts, as well as the titanium exhaust line. The aerodynamics is however even more advanced than on the Cup 380. Indeed, if the maximum support is still 220 kg, 45% of it is now exercised on the front, compared to 36% on the Cup 380.
The most efficient Lotus road
The gain of 50 HP is naturally beneficial to performance and the 0 to 100 km/h is now shipped in 3.3 s, three tenths faster than the Cup 380. This 2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430 thus becomes the most efficient road Lotus ever produced (formerly the 3-Eleven tray), being even faster on this exercise than a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso with its large V12 of 690 hp (0 to 100 in 3.4 s).
Admittedly, the two cars do not play in the same court, but it must recall good memories to the English, when at the beginning of the years 90 the spirit allowed itself to revolve around the Ferrari 348 with its valiant 4 cylinders Turbo.
Finally, to mark the coup, the Exige even has a slight repoudrage, with subtly redesigned front and rear shields, especially at the level of the air intakes. Not limited in production, this new 2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430 is already available for purchase at the price of 128 600 €.
